Account and sign-in

How do I turn on two-factor authentication?

Updated 15 October 2026 · 1 min read
Short answer

Two-factor authentication adds a second step when you sign in: a 6-digit code from an authenticator app (for example Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password). It protects both Nex and Nyx, because they share one account.

  1. Go to Settings → General → Two-Factor Authentication and tap Enable 2FA.
  2. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows.
  4. Save your 8 backup codes somewhere safe, such as a password manager. They are shown only once. If you lose your phone, you can sign in with a backup code instead of the 6-digit code; each code works only once.

You can make new backup codes (Regenerate Codes) or turn it off (Disable 2FA) in the same place; both ask for your password.
