Short answer
If an account shows no sign of use for 24 months (no sign-in and no use of the app or the website from it), we close it. We first email the registered address. If you don't sign in within 30 days of that email, the account is deleted. Signing in at any time before that keeps it open.
An account whose email address was never confirmed can't be warned, so it is closed after 24 months without an email.
